Keep Writing no. 157 May 2022
What is something that makes you happy and sad at the same time?
For some collaborations, I think I can just combine our projects, plan a print that serves 2 purposes. Often it takes more work than just designing them separately!
For this, I designed the cover for an edition of Tilted House Review in New Orleans. I had taught Cameron letterpress back at Baskerville Studios years before. He took that sliver of knowledge and created this imprint and journal. I offered to print a cover for him, to help with some of the labor. Did I mention he hand binds them?
I was thinking about the term “saudade” a Portuguese word a friend shared with me that loosely means something that brings both joy and sadness. It was described to me as alternating teacups. I suppose it is like “bittersweet.”
Printed with polymer plates and linocut on my Heidelberg Windmill on paper from French Paper Co.
