Keep Writing no. 129 January 2020
Exquisite corpse poem part 2.
This is part two of a process started with Keep Writing number 127.
For this next step, I chose a line offered by friend, and herbalist, Janet Kent, you and the rest of your siblings.
I send just this line to former Oregon Poet Laureate, Anis Mojgani, who wrote a stanza in return, and sent it in his handwriting.
Anis and I met in Savannah, at a poetry reading in a coffee shop when he was in school and I was living in Georgia for the winter. Because I am a relentless pen pal, we kept in touch in one way or another, and I ran into him in his hometown of New Orleans a few years later when I had moved to the city. When I decided to move to Portland, in December 2019, Anis met me for coffee to suggest studio space for my press. Though we’ve never been close, I appreciated his participation. We are currently working on a project together through the IPRC.
The final stanza is delayed a little, but look for it.
