In September of 2018, while wrapping up the census and planning the Keep Writing show, I also moved into a big house with an old friend. I painted the walls a bright coral. I loved that room, even though it was too hot in summer and too cold in winter. I bought a new bed, and it was cozy.

In January, Pantone announced its color of 2019 and I was surprised it was very close to the vivid coral I was allowing to soak into my life.

And so I asked participants for their color of the year.
