Share a roadside attraction.
Kathryn Hunter of Black Bird Letterpress graciously agreed to collaborate with me for a postcard, but it was not the first time we worked together. She hired me as an assistant in 2008, despite my dropping of entire drawer of type in the first few weeks of class. She shared the Ephemeral Gallery with me for my senior show, a one night gallery in the warehouse that was home to her business and Iron Designs LLC We designed, printed, and bound datebooks together. She is generous with her time and knowledge. I am honored that she agreed to design a postcard.
Next time you are in south Louisiana, visit the Garden of Salvation in Chauvin. It was flooded during Ida in 2021 but Nicholls University maintains the site.
She drew the illustration and chose the colors, and I printed.
Printed with polymer plates on my heidelberg windmill, in New Orleans on French Paper.
